You can use the Office language options to add a language, choose the display language of the user interface, and set the writing and proofing languages.

You can find the language options atSet your Office language preferencesSection of the Office Options dialog box that you access by going tofile>choices>Language. Display and author languages ​​can be set independently of each other. For example, you could set everything to match the language of your operating system, or you could use a combination of languages ​​for your operating system, the creation, and display of the Office user interface.

The available languages ​​depend on the language version of Office and any additional language packs, language interface packs, or tooltip languages ​​that are installed on your computer.

You can add a display language or an authoring language. A display language specifies the language that Office uses in the user interface—ribbon, buttons, dialog boxes, and so on. A syntax language affects the direction and layout of text for vertical, right-to-left, and mixed text. Authoring languages ​​also include proofreading tools such as spelling and grammar checking dictionaries. (The author's preferred language is shown in bold at the top of the list. To add a display language:

Tooltips are small pop-up windows that provide brief, context-sensitive help when you hover over an indicator, such as a button, tab, dialog box control, or menu. Setting the tooltip language in an Office program sets it for all Office programs you have installed.

    Remarks:

    • This feature is not available in Office 2016.
